Spanish Company Scans and 3D Prints Every Resident of Village - Make:

Fri, 05/01/2015 - 10:50 -- rprice

“Our goal is to make possible that everybody [in Spain] gets (his or her) own 3D model for free,” said Ángel Llavero, CEO of Grupo Sicnova. To accomplish their feat in Torrequebradilla, Grupo Sicnova invited every resident to step inside the Clonescan 3D, which can scan a person in just 15 seconds. All a user has to do is enter the model’s height, and four infrared sensors work simultaneously to render an image within 90 seconds. The image is then converted into a file in a cloud-based storage system, which participants can later access through Clonescan’s website.

Back To The Future | GOOD

New media artist Anthony Antonellis is one of those inspired both by modern technology and the Bauhaus’s approach toward design education. Antonellis, who gained notoriety for his tech-inspired work and turning himself in to a cyborg by implanting an RFID chip in his arm, studied at the current Bauhaus Dessau. He explained to me that the Bauhaus system, handed down by Gropius, is still resonant today. “I arrived where I am as a direct result of my studies in Weimar.

IndieGames.com A Tale of Tales Interview on Sunset

Tue, 04/21/2015 - 12:42 -- rprice

I think it feels at once calm and hectic, removed and immersed. The entire situation is set up as this duality - so, for example, the tasteful interior of the apartment offers a haven for the threatening hostility of the city, but no protection. You visit the apartment every week, while the owner is out. You get a short list of housekeeping tasks to do. But there are also other activities that are not on the list. And you're entirely free to choose what you do. There's no victory or failure conditions in Sunset, but everything you do nudges the narrative a little bit.

p5.js

Mon, 04/06/2015 - 17:21 -- rprice

Hello! p5.js is a JavaScript library that starts with the original goal of Processing, to make coding accessible for artists, designers, educators, and beginners, and reinterprets this for today’s web. Using the original metaphor of a software sketchbook, p5.js has a full set of drawing functionality. However, you’re not limited to your drawing canvas, you can think of your whole browser page as your sketch! For this, p5.js has addon libraries that make it easy to interact with other HTML5 objects, including text, input, video, webcam, and sound.

Orlando techies creating interactive experience for Halloween Horror Nights - Orlando Business Journal

Wed, 03/25/2015 - 15:41 -- rprice

Pynn, who is not just a tech enthusiast but someone who loves theme parks, said Universal Orlando's Halloween-themed attraction is one of her favorite events of the year. But she also said the park's yearly event has a problem based on the several times she participated. "They have a major problem with lines for the haunted houses and attractions, but if you could get guests out to explore the area rather than waste time in line, that creates a better experience," Pynn said.

Mysterious THE REPUBLIC Could Change How Florida Thinks About Theatre

Wed, 03/25/2015 - 11:50 -- rprice

While Elger says that the level to which each player participates is completely up to him or her, there will be some things that are out of the players' control. Sitting in a secluded second floor office, Elger, in her role as the Dungeon Master, Zeus, will be watching everything that's happening below on monitors, and will be in constant contact with her actors, who "might" kidnap players or guide them in other physical ways.
