New (old) Archives March 2, 2008

Thanks to the Internet Archive, I was able to retrieve several of the first blogs I ever wrote back in 2002/2003. Some stuff is indicative of what I write about now - quotes, mostly. Other posts appear to be direct re-postings of something I saw on the web or was sent via AIM. I used to edit a static page and maintain a PHP guestbook, also suggest folks email me with comments.

I also have lots of posts archived on LiveJournal - I just hope they never delete old accounts. I’ll have to look into that. I also had a Blurty for a while, but I migrated those to LJ when they took down the paywall.

Here are the Old-school blogs. If you’re squeamish and intolerant of even the slightest bit of 20-year-old emo whining, I don’t recommend these:

Ryan Price Music

I am a songwriter. Music offers everyone something unique, and it is my form of meditation.

I wrote and recorded my first record while I was in school. It was an experiment in a lot of ways. I was learning to sing, record, produce, arrange and write songs. I got a few friends to help out, but for the most part I played everything, and because of budget I even mastered it. The release of the album has been a learning process, and I’m still learning. That I think is the key to staying inspired.

Today I am sitting on the heals of about 30 new original songs, as you can imagine it is a lot of work and I want to give them all a change before I will inevitably be forced to retire some of them. I have also been very focused on the music end of my career, but I’m started to realize how much work is in store for me as an independent musician in today’s “here today gone tomorrow” world.

Thank you for checking me out, tell your friends and let me know if you are interested in helping in any way. Ryan

This Friday - Birthday Party July 11, 2006

Posted by Ryan in : Site News, Orlando, ryanprice.org , add a comment

Hey all,

If you read this, know that I am celebrating my birthday this Friday (it happens on Tues. the 18th).

I thought about it and I decided to go to Pleasure Island’s Irish pub. It does not cost any money at all to get in, but you must be 21. They have good food, a nice beer selection, and fantastic live music. This is one of my favorite activities in the world.

I think I would like to get down there around 8PM if I can work it out with a Designated Driver and all.

So the details are:

Raglan Road (the old PI Jazz Club)
Pleasure Island @ Downtown Disney
Friday, July 14th - 8:00PM or shortly thereafter
NO COVER, 21 and up only
All are welcome
We will likely be staying for several hours, feel free to show up at any time

If you need to get in touch with me, email ucfbassguy@gmail.com, or call me if you have my number.

COME HAVE A GOOD TIME FOR MY 24th ANNIVERSARY OF ME!

The Pulse of Nature? June 15, 2006

Have you ever felt more at peace out in the middle of an open field, with no electricity or machines nearby? This may be an actual reproducable feeling - to be in tune with the vibrations of the Earth.

Taken from We Make Money Not Art, 10 May 2006

…Schumann Resonances are quasi-standing electromagnetic waves that exist in the Earth’s “electromagnetic” cavity (the space between the surface of the Earth and the Ionosphere). Many researchers believe that the wide spectrum of artificial man-made EMF radiation masks the natural frequency of the Earth, acting as a kind of electro-smog or pollution, which affects living entities. This discrete device generates a field of the 7.83 Hz frequency, the pulsing rhythm of the Earth itself – effacing all other frequencies within a range of nearly 300 feet – viewers may unconsciously sense something within the halo of this effect.

I just came across the blog at Ibiblio.com after checking out Lyceum, which is an great project I will likely be writing about soon. Apparently the guy who writes the blog has an assignment to do statistics for the Facebook, because he has a whole article just about Freshman usage statistics at a particular school.

Think about it: you KNOW they are going to sign up for the site, it’s just a matter of when, and then how often do they use it? How often do they make new friends? How often do they update their profiles? What are their favorite personal webistes? All of these questions and more are answered by following the link below:

Does not work (at last not with this theme??). I have been playing with this crap for near on 6 hours with very little fruit. I got bunches of things fixed and added to my gallery, though. YAY for me!

This image used to be being loaded via a special quicktag which looked pretty neato.
Lipton's got no head!
The link points to the newest album, which directly corresponds to the old “Gallery” page on RyanPrice.org, where all the movies and rendered images live.

Probably most famous is the Devil Duckie movie, Of Death and Ducks.

Katharine is a MAKE All-Star April 27, 2006

My friend Katharine (of WHiRR) got her sweet and cuddly self posted on the MAKE Blog yesterday. OPAH!

She is local, and DIY, and loves Kids in the Hall, and selling her home-brew crafts. Super-cool. Plus, she appeared on 2 episodes of Crapface last week.

We also might be snatching up a table at Fringe (weekend only) for her to sell some stuff, and me to podcast from, and also have a small stack of CDs. Look for us near the beer tent!

Netvibes is the best April 25, 2006

Especially love the RSS reader. I have tried Google’s and Bloglines and a few Dashboard/Konfabulator widgets, but none of them can match what Netvibes is doing.

GET NETVIBES

I also like getting updates on both my gMail accounts right there, and how they let me discover the IceRocket search engine, which gives you thumbnails and preview panes for websites inside the search engine (but I think it is a Google mashup).

I should mention… April 19, 2006

I have started my own blogging/media/podcasting network! It is called Liberatr.net, and I am loving every minute of it sofar. I have 5 podcasts and one blog now, and very soon will be adding a second blog, and soon thereafter an internet TV show…

Wish me luck!
