this emerging group of ‘Venture Creatives’ contributes more than £15bn to the UK economy every year and a massive $132bn to the US economy, with almost a third of UK workers and 41% of US workers currently reaping the financial rewards of a creative sideline. The picture looks the same in Germany and France, where around a third of workers are using their creativity to generate extra income. Overall, 50% of those cashing in on a creative venture in the UK would look to make it their main job if it paid more or the same as their current role, and one in 10 actually plan to pursue their creative interest full time within the next six to 12 months. In the US, 8% are hoping to make the move within the next year – with figures of 7% and 5% in Germany and France respectively, that’s plenty of people embracing their inner creative!
