its latest film, The Highwaymen, which details the true story of a group of self-taught African American artists in the 1950s who were able to find fame despite a very racially divided South.
In 2004, 26 of the artists were inducted into the Florida Artist’s Hall of Fame by then-Secretary of State Glenda Hood. All told, The Highwaymen created a body of work that included more than 200,000 paintings.
