With thousands of customers and an ever expanding list of supported technologies, Platform.sh is now becoming an independent company led by my two partners, Frédéric Plais as CEO and Damien Tournoud as CTO. With the full support of our existing investors, Platform.sh will use this move to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the new development communities it serves. As the remaining founder, I have acquired Commerce Guys' Drupal Commerce business.

Nathaniel Catchpole (catch) will be joining Third & Grove. His primary responsibility will be to continue making Drupal 8 better. Adding Nat to the team will deepen our investment in Drupal, support the growing Drupal community, and further our growing expertise in Drupal 8. What will Nat be working on? I’m not exactly sure as he gets to decide, but I know it’s Drupal core and I know he will now be able to continue making Drupal core great. Welcome Nat!

Standards like the LAMP Stack, GitHub and Stack Overflow did such a good job of popularizing open source that they practically made it obsolete. Just like “mobile phones” are simply becoming “phones”, “open source software” is simply becoming “software”. This is an incredible win for open source. But it comes with new challenges: how to actually manage demand and workflows, how to encourage contributions, and how to build antifragile ecosystems. We may not feel the burden yet, but winter is coming. In a post open source world, these are problems we’ll all have to contend with.
