Drupal 8: Happy, but not satisfied | GarfieldTech

Mon, 12/07/2015 - 10:42 -- rprice

I am not satisfied with our REST support. Ironic given my role, but there you go. Core's REST support is orders of magnitude better than Drupal 7's, but we didn't go far enough. Despite our best efforts Drupal 8 not truly a REST-first system. Some of that is simple hindsight being 20/20; there's a number of things I would have recommended we do differently had I known 2 years ago what I know now, mostly around decoupling storage and serialization.

Why I speak | GarfieldTech

because of moments like that. It doesn't happen every session, but often enough we can reach out to someone new and give them the inspiration, confidence, insight, or simple kick-in-the-pants they need to take the next leap in their career, their learning, and in helping those around them grow, too. Most people we reach likely don't respond so explicitly, but speakers know they're out there. Different topics or styles will resonate for different people, but they will pick up on it.

Building Bridges, Linking Islands | Acquia

Thu, 12/18/2014 - 08:02 -- rprice

The conceptual difference between Drupal, as embodied in Drupal 8, and other major PHP projects is vastly smaller than ever before, providing PHP coders two key advantages: it makes it easier for non-Drupal developers to learn Drupal and it makes it easier for Drupal developers to learn non-Drupal systems.

Stacking Up Drupal | Drupal Watchdog

Thu, 06/07/2012 - 13:49 -- rprice

Drupal is not a page management system but a content management system. That may seem obvious, but it's actually an important distinction; Drupal doesn't think in terms of pages but in pieces of content. Not every page that will be displayed is a piece of content, and not every piece of content will have a page.
