OpenXC

Tue, 02/19/2013 - 13:35 -- rprice

OpenXC is an API to your car - by installing a small hardware module to read and translate metrics from a car's internal network, the data becomes accessible from most Android applications using the OpenXC library. You can start making vehicle-aware applications that have better interfaces based on context, can minimize distraction while driving, are integrated with other connected services, and can offer you more insight into your car's operation. Ford Motor Company and Bug Labs joined up to create a standard way of creating aftermarket software and hardware for vehicles.

Changes - Processing

Mon, 09/10/2012 - 08:58 -- rprice

All the great things from Android have now been back-ported to the desktop version of Processing, so we have a super fast OpenGL library.

choose between "Standard", "Android", and "JavaScript" mode. Those are the current modes that are being included, though we may add/remove modes as we head to 2.0 (a Jython mode is lurking about, for instance. Mmmm! Tempting.) Like Tools and Libraries, it will be possible for other parties to write their own modes that work inside the PDE.

On Having a Google TV

Thu, 08/09/2012 - 01:17 -- rprice

I am an Android guy. After owning a Nokia N96 and an iPod touch at the same time, upgrading to the HTC EVO was like the best of both worlds. Always-on connection plus awesome music and podcasting client. In order to test out web pages I also purchased a Toshiba Thrive 10". Last but not least, since I develop web pages to be viewed on televisions, I thought a Sony Google TV box would round out my Android collection nicely. At this point, I don't really use the Google Play Books or Movies all that much.

Android - Processing

Thu, 04/12/2012 - 11:03 -- rprice

The primary goal of this project is to make it foolishly easy to create Android apps using the Processing API. Once you have Processing on your machine (and the Android developer tools), you can simply write a line of code, hit Run (Ctrl-R or Cmd-R), and have your sketch show up in the emulator as a working Android app. Select Run on Device (Ctrl-Shift-R or Cmd-Shift-R) to have it run on an Android device that you have plugged into your machine. That's good stuff!

First chapter of the PhoneGap, Drupal, jQuery Mobile e-book is up! - Jeff Linwood

Sat, 03/03/2012 - 10:01 -- rprice

I’m excited to announce progress on my new e-book on PhoneGap, Drupal, and jQuery Mobile! I gave an interview on using Drupal with PhoneGap to Brian Lewis at Modules Unraveled last month. In addition to the podcast, which I really enjoyed making, I recorded a screencast on setting up PhoneGap, which I hope you enjoy.
