Can Views Use an External XML Source? | Mediacurrent

Thu, 07/21/2016 - 19:42 -- rprice

Sometimes the need arises to include a list of upcoming events, recent news or job postings. The problem that sometimes occurs is the data exists on another site as an XML document. Now, you could use Feeds and periodically import those into your site as nodes and then have them set to expire (because you wouldn’t want to keep these forever). But that would take up space in your database and there’s no need for that level of complexity or trouble.

Yes, there is a version jump compared to the previous 7.44 release; this is to indicate that this Drupal 7 point release is a bit larger than past ones and makes a few more changes and new features available than normal.

With a single image, your message is very clear. If you need to change that message for any reason, just change the image or overlay text. - See more at: https://www.mediacurrent.com/blog/alternatives-slideshows#sthash.yMISf77...

What I Learned From Posting a Survey of Conference Speakers

Tue, 05/31/2016 - 17:56 -- rprice

Many of us consider speaking and workshop leading as part of our businesses, part of our professional work. That makes us quite different to someone who perhaps speaks once or twice a year, at conferences that have grown from a community they are active in. To try and gain wider insight I put a survey online, and I am so glad that I did. Over 200 people completed the survey, 168 completed it fully. They ranged from people who have spoken at a single conference up to 100 conferences in the last 12 months.
