Smaller pieces are easier to maintain. Independent components with clear focus are useful even outside of media. Components can be shared among many media solutions which simplifies development and maintenance. Media can re-use components that might already exist in the community.

There are five key features that we wanted to build: User profile User connection (follow) Uploading images and applying effects Uploading videos Like / Comment on a friends’ image or video While Drupal 8 gave a solid foundation to kick off such a site, there were certain glitches and shortcomings in the modules that were used. Some we solved, and others are being on worked on.

"In the ’80s, I had maybe an outright mystical approach to it. For me, the very most important thing about VR was that when you were in it, you’d feel your own existence in the sense that if all the sensory input is artificial, then what’s floating there, that’s your consciousness. So to me, it was sort of proof that subjectivity is real; that consciousness is real, that it’s not just a construct that we put on things. Just to notice that you really exist, to me was the very, very core of it.

Matt Roberts is a new media artist specializing in real-time video performance and new media applications. His work has been featured internationally and nationally, including shows in Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Italy, Mexico and in New York, San Francisco, Miami, and Chicago. He has shown in several new media festivals including ISEA, FILE, 404, CONFLUX, and he recently received the Transitio award from the Transitio_MX Festival in Mexico City. He is the founder of MPG: Mobile Performance Group , and an Associate Professor of Digital Art at Stetson University .
