ImageOptim — better Save For Web

Tue, 06/02/2015 - 09:28 -- rprice

mageOptim is a free app that makes images take up less disk space and load faster, without sacrificing quality. It optimizes compression parameters, removes junk metadata and unnecessary color profiles. ImageOptim seamlessly integrates the best optimization tools: PNGOUT, Zopfli, Pngcrush, AdvPNG, extended OptiPNG, JpegOptim, jpegrescan, jpegtran, and Gifsicle. It's excellent for publishing images on the Web (easily shrinks images “Saved for Web” in Photoshop) and also useful for making Mac and iPhone/iPad applications smaller (if you configure Xcode).

Çockos Incorporated | LICEcap

Fri, 05/01/2015 - 08:44 -- rprice

LICEcap can capture an area of your desktop and save it directly to .GIF (for viewing in web browsers, etc) or .LCF (see below). LICEcap is an intuitive but flexible application (for Windows and now OSX), that is designed to be lightweight and function with high performance. LICEcap is easy to use: view a demo (output is here). In addition to .GIF, LICEcap supports its own native lossless .LCF file format, which allows for higher compression ratios than .GIF, higher quality (more than 256 colors per frame), and more accurate timestamping.

Open Sourcery

Tue, 04/28/2015 - 21:48 -- rprice

COMPLETE CODE FOR COMPLETE APPS I’ve written apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry, Windows, Mac and Linux. If you want to learn from my copious, peer-reviewed experience, support Open Sourcery by downloading the Kissogram app and sending kisses to your squeeze. GET THE APP > LEARN THE SECRETS OF THE iOS WIZARDS. After releasing the source code, I'll write a series of detailed blog posts concerning the code, its architecture and the many technical decisions involved in the app’s production. PREPARE TO BE AMAZED (BY WHAT'S POSSIBLE). For my next trick?

A Place to Hang Your Hat | Hawthorn Landings

Thu, 04/23/2015 - 11:44 -- rprice

I don’t think women are the only ones who are bad at celebrating and documenting their achievements. I think many humans struggle with it, and ever more is demanded of our ability to curate online personas. And to make them “sell.” It’s dead obvious, but its less about what you know and much more about how you can package that knowledge so someone else can consume it. So that the person who you really are looks like the person people want to subscribe to.

What I’ve Learnt as a Drupal Module Maintainer | Lemberg Blog

Thu, 03/05/2015 - 15:21 -- rprice

Probably, each Drupal developer has been there: no good contrib resulted in custom solution (doesn’t matter if it’s a module, a theme or distribution). The problem here is that a lot of drupalista stop there. Let’s contribute After a couple of days, I decided to publish it on drupal.org! 1. Every contribution counts. 2. It's impossible to predict all the use cases. 3. A successful module must integrate with all the most popular Drupal contribs 4. Tests are essential for a happy life.

Announcing the Drupal 8 Accelerate Program | Drupal Association

Tue, 12/09/2014 - 07:23 -- rprice

we are not deciding WHAT gets funded. This gets handled by the branch maintainers, keeping the Association on the right side of the “we don’t direct the project” line. The Drupal 8 Accelerate program is a fantastic opportunity for the Association to support and amplify community efforts. All of our favorite work at the Association follows this model - DrupalCon session selection, Community Cultivation Grants, Global Training Days, and DrupalCamp Fiscal Sponsorship to name a few. We’re here to make it easier for you to innovate, and this program is yet another example.
