Ronna-Renee Jackson from the Chattanooga Technology Council

Mon, 02/23/2015 - 13:49 -- rprice

Instead of thinking and acting small, companies started acting big and big things happened. There were some strong players in the mix – like EPB, who made us "Gig City". Several strong companies, such as Lamp Post Group, The Company Lab and other non-profits, were working together to redefine our future. Mayor Berke launched Chattanooga Forward. From that, a wellspring of ideas flowed and even more organizations sprouted or reimagined themselves to create a vibrant network. So, to me, the biggest change has been in attitude and spirit – we were no longer "run-down."

Announcement #4: New Tech Cities, a Blog Series

Mon, 02/23/2015 - 13:48 -- rprice

In 2005, Chattanooga opened the Tennessee Aquarium right in the heart of downtown. Chattanooga is on the Tennessee River and the city started working hard to improve the waterfront. We went back to visit and found a couple of new restaurants open. We kept on going back to Chattanooga over the next few years, and every year was better. The city was cleaner, new hotels and attractions arrived, and we started hearing about new tech companies in the city. Then in 2010, Chattanooga got the fastest internet in the country with 1 Gig service available to everyone.

Classy Panel Styles | Drupal.org

Wed, 02/18/2015 - 09:59 -- rprice

CPS allows themers and designers to create a simplified pool of ready-made styles for site builders to choose from when laying out their pages. These translate directly to template and class changes in the DOM in a predictable way. Bridges the gap between styles applied to the site regions and styles applied to the content itself... where the "theme" ends and the WYSIWYG editor begins. Builds on the drag-and-drop content layout freedom that Panels provides. Allows editors to apply ready-made styles a themer has whipped up for them — without having to remember class names!

Masonry Panels | Drupal.org

Wed, 02/18/2015 - 09:55 -- rprice

Provides 'Masonry' style layouts as an option for rendering the contents of panel panes. Masonry rendering will re-pack panes in your panel to minimize vertical space and provide column-like appearance while the items are still in natural (horizontal) order on the page. With "Responsive" layouts happening everywhere, the Panels approach of locking everything into a grid can provide a bit of a dilemma, because your column count is pretty static. But the Panels approach of letting an editor drop elements into a page in certain zones still works well in some cases.

Provide drush-command to re-geocode all empty values [#1451942] | Drupal.org

Thu, 01/15/2015 - 13:39 -- rprice

Here is how to use it: drush -d geocoder-backfill --limit=2500 This patch not only fixes the drush command (fixes the bug where all geocoded values get deleted), but also adds the much needed --limit=NUMVALUE which allows you to limit the geocoding to abide by geocoding (Google 2500/day) quota limits.
