Welcome to Webform! | Webform

Fri, 04/13/2012 - 09:45 -- rprice

Webform.com is a form and survey service built on the Open-Source software Drupal and Webform. Drupal has existed since 2001 and the Webform module for it has existed since 2004. During this time, the functionality of Webform has been exclusive to those able to set up a website, or able to pay someone to do it for them. Webform.com is intended to expand the audience that can build simple forms and surveys without needing to set up their own web site. It also demonstrates the full abilities of the Webform module for sites that are evaluating using Webform for their own site.

The cost of Drupal | Fuse Interactive

Wed, 03/14/2012 - 08:08 -- rprice

We’ve completed the configuration phase and we’re about 90% complete with theming. Not including a few lines of code in the template.php file (specific to the theme) and three lines of code in two views to provide some default argument handling (which may lead to a useful contrib module), we have not written one line of custom code.

A total of 7 patches have been written or applied to add or fix functionality, 3 which have been RTBC’d and subsequently committed to the dev releases. Awesome!

Simon Gardner's answer to History: What is the greatest achievement of Western civilization? - Quora

Wed, 03/07/2012 - 05:04 -- rprice

I think open source software is the current pinnacle of human achievement.

Millions of man hours of remote, global collaboration and development to create an enterprise scale software stack containing implementations of all significant (and not so significant) application types and it's free for anyone in the world to use and learn from.

Amazing technological breakthroughs are being made all the time and very, very many of them (The Internet for example) have been made possible through the availability of free, high quality software.

is there any way to use drupal's database wrapper to create a brand new connection which can be permanently set to the new database without having to do this switching back-and-forth nonsense? surely we can handle connections to multiple databases concurrently.
