Entity revision scheduling | drupal.org

Wed, 08/15/2012 - 07:57 -- rprice

During the editing process, the 'draft' revision is loaded to replace the 'published' revision. Whenever a revision is saved, the 'published' revision is then reloaded and resaved to ensure that it remains published even though changes were made to the current revision.

On cron, a schedule allows the system to automatically switch to a given 'published' revision at a certain time.

Spark update: mobile administration in Drupal | Dries Buytaert

Tue, 08/14/2012 - 12:33 -- rprice

HTML/JS prototype we've created for a mobile toolbar and dashboard for Drupal that we hope to include as part of the Spark distribution and then propose for Drupal 8 core as part of the Drupal 8 Mobile Initiaitve.

Drupal 7's default administration tools (e.g. Toolbar module and Shortcut module) were not designed in a “mobile first" way, and as such can be difficult to work with on tablets or smartphones.

A First Look at Spark Usability Improvements in Drupal - OSTraining

Sat, 08/11/2012 - 08:41 -- rprice

The first Alpha release of Spark has just been released, so we decided to take it for a test drive. Come with us and see where Drupal usability is headed.

The key difference you'll notice immediately is with the black admin bar. There are now View and Edit buttons in the top-left corner.

Click Edit and a grey overlay comes over the page. Anything that you can edit will now be outlined in blue.

With Ember, the Drupal 7 overlay is gone. This is a good thing.

The DrupalCon registration functionality in more detail | wunderkraut

Thu, 08/09/2012 - 14:57 -- rprice

We are still responsible for adding the additional products to the user's cart when selected. We do this by adding custom submit handlers to the form. In this case we add two custom submit handlers, one before the standard one to clear the cart in case there's anything else in there, and one after where we add the selected optional products.

agile approach | Using State Machine with State Flow to build powerful workflows

Thu, 08/09/2012 - 14:56 -- rprice

In this post, I'm going to go over the steps to create your own custom module workflow plugin. For this example let's consider the following to be our requirements:

The Workflow has 5 states - Draft, Needs Review, Approved, Published, Unpublished
There are 5 events or "transitions" - Submit for review, Approve, Request updates, Publish, Unpublish
Only certain roles can approve/publish/unpublish content
Some custom code needs to be executed when the node is moved into the "Approved" state

Thu, 08/09/2012 - 09:25 -- rprice

The next evolution of Drupal in the university

Intelligently share content—courses, bios, news, and more—across multiple sites in native Drupal format or as raw data (JSON).

Trekk's workflow system is flexible and robust, allowing developers to customize or enforce consistency as needed.

Each university has unique needs. Trekk lets you skip the monotony and focus on where you're different by easily overriding the defaults.

Trekk even has built-in support for Flatfish so you can quickly and easily migrate your existing sites into Drupal.

Proposal from first Drupal Governance Sprint | Dries Buytaert

Wed, 08/08/2012 - 07:39 -- rprice

several community leaders in the Drupal project sat down with several community leaders from other open source projects and tried to hash out a governance structure to support the Drupal community's continued growth. "Governance" in this case, encompassing all the things we do to organize ourselves, make plans and decisions together, get things done, and resolve conflicts.

Here are the proposals we came up with, and we are actively seeking community feedback on the ideas within.
