The first post here on Florida Creatives will be to announce our first networking event! One of the goals of this podcast is to serve the community of entrepreneurs, filmmakers, thespians, bloggers and podcasters, artists, designers, architects - all are welcome at this event. The goal is to start a discussion amongst these groups and stir things up in Florida.
Josh Hallet knows. He's the guy who put together what I might go out on a limb as saying "Orlando's First Unconference", BlogOrlando.
Over on Josh's blog he's been posting what he's learned at the American Marketing Association's MPlanet conference. If you are involved with marketing, own a business or run a website, Josh's blog will be very beneficial to you.

Notice anything? Me neither. It's like they packed up their snake oil and left town at the first whiff of kerosene.
Are they rebuilding their crappy site? Fixing the broken search engine? Hiring a new staff writer for movies and theater? Who knows?
Actually, that last one was a bit of a joke. The guy who does most of the movie reviews now, John Thomason, is just a lowly contributor, and deserves to be full-time.
This past weekend was the first ever Orlando Film Festival... in case you missed it, and it's likely you did. The people who put this thing together are well-known and respected in the Florida film community. I got a chance to sit down with the programming team, Brian Quain and Michael King. You may recognize Brian as the inventor of a phenomenon only known as "The Game". Michael is known mostly in Orlando for his Writing-Producing-Acting role in his film The Way Back Home.

Sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined 'The Third Place' in his 1990 book 'The Great Good Place', and described it as a celebration of the places where people can regularly go to take it easy and commune with friends, neighbours, and whoever else shows up.
