Mogees - Play the World by Bruno Zamborlin — Kickstarter

Sat, 02/22/2014 - 11:30 -- rprice

Mogees consists of a mobile app and a small sensor that detects and analyses the vibrations that we make when we interact with the objects around us. It uses a special sound technique to alter their acoustic properties so as to make them musical. Above all, it's about everyone making beautiful music out of ordinary objects. Just plug it in and play the world. If you have 90 seconds, watch the video below, in which the 10 year old son of one of our friends plays Mogees in song mode:

What Happens When You Make The Internet Share A Video Game - Digg

Sat, 02/22/2014 - 11:20 -- rprice

The premise is simple: a bot reads the comments of the people watching a game of Pokémon Red and translates them into commands — the comment "up" moves the player up; "b" presses the b button etc. What could go wrong?

Gamasutra - The Cabal: Valve’s Design Process For Creating Half-Life

Tue, 02/11/2014 - 11:19 -- rprice

"experiential density" — the amount of "things" that happen to and are done by the player per unit of time and area of a map. Our goal was that, once active, the player never had to wait too long before the next stimulus, be it monster, special effect, plot point, action sequence, and so on. player acknowledgment. This means that the game world must acknowledge players every time they perform an action.

Orange Blossom Trail | Bryan Soderlind : Journal

Thu, 02/06/2014 - 11:47 -- rprice

U.S. Route 441 is a north/south highway that runs over 400 mile long from the north border of Georgia down to Miami. For a short section in Central Florida, US 441 becomes Orange Blossom Trail or “The Trail” Though OBT technically runs from Tangerine to Kissimmee, FL most people consider “The Trail” the 7 mile stretch from HWY 50 in the North to Sandlake Road in the South. Lined with pawn shops, strip clubs, sleazy motels, and sketchy bars, The Trail is a hotbed for seedy characters and criminal activity.
