Reach Out Your Hand and Let There Be Light | Leap Motion Developer Labs

Wed, 01/22/2014 - 07:53 -- rprice

The Leap Motion Controller seemed like an intriguing way to control the lights, so I created a modular framework using Scala and the Leap Motion Java API. After thinking about what a modular system would look like, and what kind of features it should have, I decided that it should be easy to extend, configurable, contain a message system synchronizing the color settings from various connectors, and include a remote start/stop option for the system. In the video below, you can see the installation in action;

Isaac Cohen on Changing the Way We Think About Web Design | Leap Motion Developer Labs

Wed, 01/22/2014 - 07:53 -- rprice

In this camera experiment, you can move and rotate your hand to change the visuals and your perspective. But what’s really amazing is what you can’t see – an invisible ball, pushing an invisible cloth, which in turn transforms a tunnel of colorful fractals in response to your hand movements.

Google introduces smart contact lens project to measure glucose levels | Ars Technica

Sun, 01/19/2014 - 11:51 -- rprice

If you're wondering how power works, one of Praviz's previous projects was a contact lens with a working LED. Power for that was described as being "powered remotely using a 5-millimeter-long antenna printed on the lens to receive gigahertz-range radio-frequency energy from a transmitter placed ten centimetres from the eye." The copper circle around the edge of this lens is most likely an inductive charging coil, so actual use of this will probably require some kind of face-mounted charging antenna.

This Is Story

Mon, 12/23/2013 - 08:12 -- rprice

Set in a 2000 square foot store located in Manhattan’s 10th Ave. retail corridor, STORY is a retail concept that takes the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like a store. That means every four to eight weeks, STORY completely reinvents itself – from merchandise and store design to floor plan and fixtures – to bring to light a new theme, trend, or issue. So how did it all get started?
